How To Increase Internet Speed In Kali Linux
In this article, we tend to discuss the slow network speed drawback in the kali Linux system installed on virtual platforms like VMware or Virtualbox.
What's kali?
Kali Linux is an operating system developed by a company named Offensive Security. It is an awfully noted penetration testing platform for the penetration testers or we can say hackers worldwide because it comes with preinstalled penetration testing and different hacking tools, that are terribly helpful to pen-testers and cybersecurity learners and it's free for all.
How to increase internet speed in kali?
Method 1:
- Go to your virtual machine preferences and within the network setting modify your network adapter to bridged as shown within the picture below.
- Now click ok and run your virtual machine.
- The network speed should be enhanced.
For VMware:
- go to manage>Virtual machine setting>Network
- Change the Network Adapter from NAT to Bridged as shown below.
while our network adapter is set to NAT the virtual machine shares its IP with our HOST machine such that our host machine works sort of a router for it so that the dataflow appears something like shown below,
Method 2:
This command will open a window like the following:
8.8.8.8
4.4.4.4
Method 3:
We need to put in a tool referred to as apt-transport-HTTPS by using the following command in our Kali Linux terminal window:
This is an awfully bit-sized with 149kb size. thus it will be installed in some second.
- Then we tend to open the sources.list file in leafpad, placed at /etc/apt/sources.list
- We need to alter the primary HTTP(hypertext transfer protocol) to HTTPS like the following screenshot:
- Then we tend to save and shut it, and run the apt update command to update the repository. Then we can check the internet speed by downloading massive-sized tools or upgrading the system we're certain that the speed will increase.
