How To Increase Internet Speed In Kali Linux

How to increase internet speed in kali?

Some strategies might be used to increase internet speed in the Kali Linux system. We tend to discuss three strategies here to extend internet speed in kali.

Method 1:

try modifying your network adapter for virtual machine

For VirtualBox:

When we install the Kali Linux system on a virtual platform the counseled settings are applied to the virtual machine automatically and we change it to make the virtual machine work exactly the same way we want it to. To alter the network adapter follow these steps

  • Go to your virtual machine preferences and within the network setting modify your network adapter to bridged as shown within the picture below.

  • Now click ok and run your virtual machine.
  • The network speed should be enhanced.

For VMware:

  • go to manage>Virtual machine setting>Network
  • Change the Network Adapter from NAT to Bridged as shown below.



why we tend to modify our adapter from NAT to Bridged?

while our network adapter is set to NAT the virtual machine shares its IP with our HOST machine such that our host machine works sort of a router for it so that the dataflow appears something like shown below,

Router>>HOST machine>>Virtual machine
that's why our network speed is slow in the virtual machine however after we modify the network adapter to Bridged each the HOST and Virtual machines hook up with the router so that they can fetch the amount of data they require that is why it's a decent observation to modify our Network adapter to Bridged.

Method 2:

choose a correct DNS server

DNS stands for Domain Name Server. The main function of a DNS server is to translate domain names into IP addresses, that computers will perceive.

Check for Domain Name Server by using the following command :

sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf
This command will open a window like the following:


Here we are going to add Google's Domain Name Server:

8.8.8.8
4.4.4.4

This will appear like the following:


Then we can save and shut the config file:

Method 3:

Download via HTTPS secure protocol

We need to put in a tool referred to as apt-transport-HTTPS by using the following command in our Kali Linux terminal window:


sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https -y

This is an awfully bit-sized with 149kb size. thus it will be installed in some second.

    Then we tend to open the sources.list file in leafpad, placed at /etc/apt/sources.list
    We need to alter the primary HTTP(hypertext transfer protocol) to HTTPS like the following screenshot:

        Then we tend to save and shut it, and run the apt update command to update the repository. Then we can check the internet speed by downloading massive-sized tools or upgrading the system we're certain that the speed will increase.
